I declare it made my confidence turn into meek
I’ll give you all the info, and I’ll even put it in a song

I’ll tell you all about it – it’s declarative
& I’ll ask you all about it, interrogative
Let me tell you what to do – it’s imperative
& that’s a command

I’ll shout it from the rooftops - exclamatory
& once you know the deets you’ll have the story
I hope my tale is anything but boring
Yeah…


I asked her what her name was but she didn’t say
I said I want to talk, but not interrogate
I asked her for her info, but she said that she was running late

She found me out at recess, she said, “Give me the ball”
She sounded real imperative so I didn’t stall
Her wish was my command, I couldn’t argue at all

I exclaimed “YES! She talked to me!”
And I didn’t care if anybody could see
My brain was overflowing with all the things that just might be
